Unexpected Data:
My other daughter's car (also a 2006 wagon w. Sport suspension) was at my house last week for oil change and squeaking/scraping noise at idle and over bumps.
The noise was caused by the body rear muffler hanger CLIP scraping on the muffler's hanger rod. The Starla muffler never fit quite right, and the rubber hangers had stretched.
To fix it without new SAAB-specific rubber hangers I added some stiff thick rubber tubing on the muffler hanger rods on both sides of the muffler. Got rid of the noise, but more surprising to me was that the stiffer location for the muffler greatly diminished steering wheel VIBRATION at Idle !
Makes me wonder whether 9-5's did not have this issue when new because ALL of the motor mounts and exhaust isolators were in good shape, properly fitted, and the engine and exhaust were all well-aligned. For now, this simple 'fix' has improved my daughter's driving experience in more than one way.
