The 07 Volvo had a better reliability record, and the parts situation is much better, but it's also much more complicated, and not as fun to drive, and the gas mileage is a bit of a shocker.
And with any used car, it's really all about that car and its history.
I love the 9-5 Linear.
In terms of 'big' problems, it depends on how you define big, also what was already dealt with.
Basically, lots of stuff goes wrong with Saab 9-5s, but if you fix it yourself, it's cheap.
If you know what you are doing, check the records or state of the car for the following, I would suspect any of these are candidates on that one:
1.) DI
2.) CPS
3.) Motor and trans mounts.
4.) Fuel pump.
5.) Thermostat.
6.) Power steering line.
7.) O2 Sensors.
8.) CPU Pin issue with O2 sensor.
9.) Cooling system hoses, etc.
9.) The usual other suspects - brakes, filters, spark plugs, oil, trans, coolant.
