Search on eBay for Z or T car seal as there are a number of people selling each and they are most likely of Chinese origin, but seem to be well made. I used the Z seal but bought both and I think either one should work so you can decide which one you prefer as the show you the profile in the listings. The material is very pliable and the adhesive strip says 3M but I don’t know if that is genuine. The adhesive isn’t so sticky so you can reposition it as you go along. I had to cut notches where the clips the go under the windshield are attached to clear them. I tried to leave a little adhesive on so it stays in place. I also cleaned the cowl cover thoroughly because they tend to be very dirty. Then I cleaned the area where the adhesive attaches with alcohol to promote adhesion. Time will tell how good the adhesive holds. I thought that if the adhesive doesn’t hold next time I would put some contact cement on the cowl before applying the seal but that would make the job trickier because you would only have one chance to get it properly positioned. Depending on which one you choose you get anywhere from 2 to 10 meters so there is enough to do more than one car and the price is around $7 to $11 shipped so you lose mostly the time if it doesn’t hold up over time. And the time is well spent cleaning all the garbage out of the cowl before you have fan problems. As I said scraping the old seal off the cowl is the trickiest part. WIS has instructions if you haven’t taken the cowl cover off before or post here if you have questions. Take a picture of the wiper arms before you start so you can get them properly positioned on the splined shafts. I think you will like the results. As you say, the tree detritus seems to be the main problem in the cowl. In one car I bought from a friend the center drain hole was completely cemented with tree debris. You can easily pull the longer drain rubber out of the bottom of the cowl as that usually is partially plugged. If the cowl isn’t draining properly water may eventually drain back into the interior around the blower. With the age of our cars some of these maintenance jobs become more important. I was working on a 2000 this time.
