Thanks. I see a Z seal that is more like an lower case "H" that looks promising. I think the 3M and 4M that is in the descriptions refers to the length more than manufacturer. I may need to affix it with a little silicone rubber sealant on the cowl junction at a few points rather than the whole length. Mine is a 2000 and the cowl's rubber portion is largely toast. I may try a Dremel with rotary sander drum to remove the old hard rubber seal. If I have to, I can pull the cowl off the car which is probably the safest method. I need to pull the wipers anyway to repaint them.
I clean out my cowl's drain every time the hood is open to include squeezing the rubber "pouch" drain that often collects seeds and trash. I also try to vacuum the collected leaves and seeds that always seem to get under the hood in the corners at the hinges.
