It could be the O-ring between water pump connection and engine block.
Rubber material for O-rings have gone downhill badly in the last 10-15 years and the rubber does not keep its flex but flattens out over time. This will allow small leaks from that connection during the cool down period over night and leaves almost no traces until the leak gets bigger.
I discard the O-ring that comes with the pump and use a Viton ring there instead and it seems to hold up better.
The size I'm using is 1-3/8" x 1-5/8" x 1/8"
