Re: Random hard to start. 3.0 V6 - the CPS location Posted by FredKolb12 [Email] In Reply to: Re: Random hard to start. 3.0 V6, Paul from Palmyra, PA, Sat, 28 Feb 2026 11:36:38 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
The V6 CPS is in the front of the block secured by a 8mm bolt. Mine was changed years ago by the dealer when it died. I'm only in the low 130,000 miles category, but rarely have an issue starting and have never replaced the battery cable either.
My only issue with hard starting is if the car is not started for a few weeks. I attribute it to not getting the fuel it needs after sitting. When not driven for a while, I cycle the ignition key on and off a few times to ensure the fuel pump "primes" the lines with enough gas to get it to start. There is also a fuel regulator on the upper right side of the engine with an attached small diameter vacuum line - mine is white with 90 degree end rubber fittings. Make sure it's not leaking or detached.
