It does seem like electrical issues can cause all sorts of problems with 9-5s. I have replaced the positive cable on one of mine due to corrosion issues causing intermittent problems. Corrosion was under the insulation in addition to what could be seen by the terminals. If a Saab cable isn’t available I would think you could get a shop that does automotive electrical work to make one. The cables aren’t that complicated. If the car runs well otherwise it makes sense to try some other things. It is frustrating to have to worry about the car starting. Maybe a used electrical cables might be a possibility if you could find something in good shape. While I wouldn’t rule out the negative cable, they don’t seem to cause as many problems.
