I have a 9-5 sedan M99, but I guess its the same on all 9-5s with the
prewired antenna coax. The antenna side of the coax is tied to a beam
between the sheet metal and the headliner about a foot from the center
brake light. You have to lower the headliner to reach it. Your antenna
options is one that mounts through the sheet metal (at the same location
as the M01 shark fins) or a glass antenna mounted on the rear window for
a sedan or side window for wagon. In this case you need an antenna with
a short cable to reach the prewired coax. The glass antenna can not be
mounted near the defroster wires or FM radio antenna wires. Possible
locations for the sedan is to the right or left of the center brake light
or inside the brake light (if the antenna foot isn't too large). I put
my antenna inside the brake light. Another possibility is to ignore the
prewired coax and mount a small glass antenna in one of the upper corners
of the windshield. This requires a new cable, but the route to the phone
is short and easy. Saab does not recommend a through the sheet metal
antenna as it is easy to damage the roof.
What I did was to mount the handsfree, but then found it too difficult
to remove the headliner without damage, and instead asked my local Saab
dealer to install the antenna for me. They are very nice and installed
for free. :-)
