Time for Service Indicator (and Check Engine Light)

Hi,
I currently drive a 2000 Saab 9-5 Sedan with approximately 47,000 miles on it. For the past few months, the check engine light has been coming on sporadically. I keep bringing it into the dealership and they keep saying they've repaired the problem (usually involving replacing spark plugs and the DI Cassette) only to have it come on again soon thereafter. It almost seems like it comes on just about every time I fill the gas tank, stays on for a few days, and then disappears...although I can't be sure it actually does or doesn't come on every time I fill the gas tank...it might just seem this way. Anyone have any ideas what might be wrong or suggestions on what to do besides just continuing to bring it into the dealership (or suggestions on what to tell them to do to repair it once and for all)
Also, recently my SID stated "Time For Service" and I brought the car into the dealership. It was my understanding that when this came on, the car needed scheduled maintenance, but all the dealership wanted to do was an oil/lube/filter. Is this correct, or is there something else that needs to be done? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
