I was driving down the interstate yesterday and when I tried to exit I found that my car wouldn't shift out of 5th gear. I hadn't noticed any strange sounds comming from the tranny but I thought the clutch slipped on me a last week. The car has 147k and I am not sure it is worth the transmission work. My last saab, an 84' 900 turbo, had about 240k before the transmission locked up completly and there were some pretty clear signs before that happened.

I was just wondering if anybody has had this happen to them and what it would cost to fix. The past few years have not been kind on this car and it isn't worth spending a couple of thousand dollars on. Also this is my first time on a saab bulletin board so I was wondering if transmission problems are common with saabs. I have never had any engine problems but I was expecting this transmission to get quite a few more miles than it has.
