In the spirit of giving back to this board which has helped me termendously over the last few weeks, I would like to relate how I replaced my A/C belt on my 84 900T.

After almost falling out of my chair after hearing the local dealer here in Atlanta wanted $29 (!!) for an A/C belt, I did some research, and found belts at AutoZone.com for Saabs. The belt was either $3.19 or $3.99...can't remember...bought all 4 belts for the car. Much better price, don't you think? They are made by Kelley, in Canada. They look very strong..not inferior in the least. And they are ribbed.

Anyway, I tried and tried but couldn't get the belt on even though I had "relaxed" the adjuster pulley all the way. I mean, I just need another 1/4" of slack in the belt..Arrgh! Gave up finally. Then made some calls, suspecting I had a belt which was not the correct one. Discovered I need to actually loosen the two bolts that hold the adjuster pulley onto to the block all the way, until the pulley could actually sort of tilt inwards, and Voila!...the belt goes on. Got a breaker bar to apply pressure on the aduster bracket, and tightened the two bolts down with a 12 mm wrench...A/C works great again...for a cost of around four bucks.

Every little sucess build confidence...right? :-)
