1990, 900T Conv. Auto 100000 miles, using 98 RON

Got the car 9 months ago, then I was getting 20 mpg. But now I am getting only 17.5 mpg.
Decided to troubleshoot on this high fuel consumption.
“Check Engine” light is not activated,( the light is not faulty)

I checked on these items,
1. Vac hoses looks OK. After switching off the engine for 10 min, I remove the hose from the vac.reservoir , I can tell there is vacuum is still present. Is this ‘test method’ representative?
2. Measured the LH coolant Temp. sensor resistance , 140 F – 700 ohms, 84 F – 1730 ohms.
3. Fuel cap fits tight, no odor of gas.
4. New sparks, new air filter
5. Checked the fuel pump seal - OK
6. Throttle position sensor, LH 2.4. I did the test according to the Bentley. Using a digital meter, I did not get a ‘beep’ ( continuity signal) from the meter in any throttle postion but when I tested for resistance, I did get readings of 1200 ohms and 4700 ohms when I switch between terminals.
Would this contributed significantly to the high consumption?
7. AMM - when I removed the AMM, I did NOT see any wire in the meter. The inside was empty, unlike the drawing provided in the Bentley ( pg 240-14). It is just like an empty cylinder. It has the wire screen though. On the meter, I see the model as ‘5 AM ‘.
Is this normal for an AMM ? How can I proceed with testing it?.

Couple of weeks ago I posted “ where is my charcoal canister?”..
Got some replies, thanks, but I can’t locate it still, it is not in the left wheel well or any wheel well.

Will appreciate any help. Thanks.
