a while back i noticed that one of my front tires is splayed 2-3 inches out from the other. took it in to have the wheels aligned and they were still crooked. i took it back to the mechanic to show him and he said that it was probably the passenger side cv joint. it had a torn boot and was clicking, so i replaced it with a new one. when replacing that i noticed the bad ball joint -- http://saabnet.com/tsn/bb/900/index.html?bID=226165 -- and i replaced that yesterday. after the cv replacement and the ball joint replacement, the tires are still crooked. there isn't a slight correction on sharp corners anymore but there's still a little hesitation when i'm coming out of a right corner. also, when going straight there's a little bit of sloppiness that pops up every now and then.

could the hesitation/sloppiness be because of misaligned tires, and is there anything besides wheel alignment that could cause one of them to splay off the way it is? the boots on the ball joints look good on both sides.. i swapped the one that looked bad (planning on replacing all 4 in the front this spring). and, one last question, how hard is DIY wheel alignment?
