hey guys, i own a '91 Saab 900( 4 cylinder, 16 valve non-turbo) that's been giving me quite the headache over the past three months. It's a great car...when it wants to work. I bought in in July of 2003 and it has nearly 190 thousand miles on it, so it has been a trooper. It has been well kept, other than an oil leak that looks as if it's gone on for quite a while. I regularly add a quart every few tanks of gas. In January, I had an entire new exhaust system put in, and the next day my alternator died, so a new battery and an alternator were installed.
About three weeks ago, I went to start the car one rainy night and it wouldn't start up. This was sudden, because it had been running very well since January. The next morning it started up perfectly fine. I was on the way to work earlier this week, and at a light, my car stalled. It wouldn't restart. I pushed it to the side of the road, waited ten minutes, and it started up. After work that night, it started fine and nearly home, it began to feel as if it was about to cut out again, so i kept in in second gear and revved high for a few block till i was home. I haven't driven it since, because i'm just the person to break down in a busy intersection, but i don't know what could be wrong. When i started it yesterday morning, it seemed like the engine was struggling a bit, and after fifteen minutes running, i looked under the car and there was a huge puddle of oil that had dripped, but only when the car was running. At first, I thought it was a case of bad gas, because the problem came about so suddenly. I also have noticed that there seems to be moisture coming from the tailpipe, and it's as if my exhaust stutters when i'm idling and at slow speeds...my thoughts led me to the bad gas scenario. Anyway, I guess i'll bring it into a mechanic to have it checked out, but i'm pretty terrified about the news. I'm a student, and i don't know if i could take it! haha, thanks for any suggestions/commentary you might have. I know the cars old, but i try to take car of it.

best,
tommy
