After taking my '93 900s into a Saab dealership to get an oil change and squeaking belts replaced, I've been experiencing a reoccurring issue with my car not being able to turn over.

Several days after getting the maintenance work done, I started up my car without any incidence and let it idle to warm up. While I was sitting there I noticed that the fan was loosing power. Dash lights started coming on, then my car faded and died.

Since it was a holiday, I had it towed to the only open garage around. They replaced my starter, but the very next day my car was having difficulties turning over and eventually died completely. Lights would come on, but there wasn't enough oomph to start the car.

Being new to the area, I was given a recommendation for a privately owned garage. They diagnosed it as my fuel pump. A few days later I started up my car and gas started pouring out of it. I took it back to the garage and they installed another fuel pump.

When I went to pick up my car, it wouldn't start. They said it was my battery. Since the battery was older and my car had been through a lot they said it had just lost all it’s juice and wouldn’t hold a charge.

Several days after replacing my battery, my car would not start again. Lights would come on, but it could not turn over. I took it back to the same garage and they said that this time it was my alternator, which I had replaced exactly 1 year and 3 months ago (3 months over the warranty!)

After installing my new alternator, I picked up my car and didn't even make it home before it faded and died. Once again, lights would come on, but I didn't have enough power to roll up my windows or start my car.

Taking it back to the same garage, they said the new alternator was faulty and installed another one. I went to pick up my car and once again it wouldn’t start. After they recharged my car, it ran for a couple days and then died again.

This time I took it back to the Saab dealership. They said it was my alternator and replaced it with a used part. After getting my car back it was running great for a record-breaking two weeks strait. Now, it won't start. My headlights can be turned on, my dash lights and the dome light turns on, but my car cannot turn over.

I’m embarrassingly naïve about cars and have tried to be as patient as possible with the mechanics' diagnoses. I’ve spent thousands of dollars and haven’t had a working car for months. I've moved to an area with limited options for Saab mechanics and I’m getting desperate! Please, if someone could offer any suggestions on what the problem could be I would appreciate it greatly!
