There was minimal resistance to the seating of the bearing -- I took a socket and contacted the outer ring -- a few light taps and it was installed. Everything went back together very well - it helps to have done this once before, and to have such a great group of supporters on the BB.

The most fun I had was using my aircraft bearing installation tool to compress the PP fingers to put in the spark plug wire. I used the old PP, and so it was the compression surface, and three pumps with the porta power, and the plug wire was in! Clutch bellows slid in thanks to KenS lending me his tool, and my Mother was the pedalman for getting out the PP spacer.
