Poor acceleration Posted by twells [Email] (#1632) [Profile/Gallery] (more from twells) on Thu, 9 Nov 2006 03:49:32 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I have an 85 turbo automatic with 150K miles. Recent Ebay purchase. Engine block is red, so I assume the engine has been replaced. This car has no hooter valve, which I have read in the Bentley that some of the 85 automatics did not have a hooter.
First couple of times I drove the car a short distance (1/4 mile x 2), it accelerated fine. Most recent drive, I was accelerating and it blew the intercooler hose off the throttle body. After I put it back on, under gentle acceleration, no problem. Under moderate acceleration, the engine surges, almost feels like you are turning the ignition or fuel on/off for half second periods, every other second or two. Once up to cruise speed, runs fine, other than if you try to accelrate. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
