Something is causing your ECU to raise the idle. There are a number of sensors that can do this, could possibly be the AMM. If you are getting a CEL you can pull codes, but vacuum leaks don't necessarily cause codes. Does it do this when you drive normally, or just after a hard run on hilly terrain? Does it hunt erratically, or stay constant at the high RPM? Does it idle high on the initial start up, or after its warmed up? A sticky AIC will cause funky idle, tapping it probably won't help. You need to remove it and spray it out with carb cleaner, then lube it up with boesheild, not WD 40...If your engine temperature sender thinks the engine is colder than it really is, it will tell the ECU, which will in turn give the engine more fuel , which results in high idle. Not necessarily your problem, just an example.
