Charcoal canister Posted by Twells [Email] (#1632) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Twells) on Wed, 4 Jul 2007 17:57:15 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
85 900T auto with 157K miles. When I accelerate the car, I get a gas smell in the cabin. I thought I had a hole in the tubing from the charcoal canister to the filler (previous mouse infestation), but I can get good vaccum on the line, indicating no airleaks in the line. Should the charcoal canister in the left front fender be airtight? I put a handheld vaccuum pump with gauge on both fittings and can't get a good vacuum while sealing the other fitting, indicating that air is leaking into the canister from somewhere. If it is supposed to be airtight, anybody know where I can get a new one?
Bonus question: Can someone explain the purpose of the large hose coming off the valve cover? It runs up to the turbo inlet pipe, but the hose also contains a "T" under the intake manifold with a connection to what appears to be the lower heater core hose. Doesn't make sense...
Thanks!
