just got the car two weeks ago and was hoping for diy fixer-upper. control arm/subframe connection on pass side started splitting from rust...inner driver and tranny blew in middle of brooklyn bridge over weekend. the engine is GREAT (was a '89 swap w/ about 140k+ miles)...seriously never overheated (95degree heat + hard driving), fans all worked as should, just did oil change and iridium ngk spark plugs and fixed vacuum lines-engine pulled super strong...small oil seepage from oil coolant lines near filter is all...interior really good (except headliner, dash cracks, and drivers seat wear)...electrical is super..everything worked from central locking to radio....body is really good shape except pass door not aligned properly on bottom (previous owner accident looks like) with minimal rust on hood front and wheel arches only. rust was bad in underbody/particularly front pass side and suspension needed replacing (bushings all around at least). i just got aero rims (9k turbo polished lip version)...ecodes arriving anyday now. local indy saab mechanic said get rid of the thing, that it will be too much trouble to try and fix frame and too expensive for a rebuilt tranny. i didnt spend much on the car and would just like to break even. hate to dump at a junkyard. should i part it out? i have a truck/trailer i can borrow if someone wanted the entire thing as a parts car and doesnt live too far from manhattan. what junkyards are near nyc anyhow and how much would they give me for it? arent cat converters worth something for the metals?

its really frustrating....went this far so figure i should just get another SPG and do it right. what do ya guys think? or does anyone know of a good (rust free) body to swap the good parts into? should i just start fresh? not ready to give up and wanna turn this into a good learning experience.
