the head and pistons are different as well as the ex cam and specific to *only* the 85, the APC is mounted under the left rear passenger seat and is not plug compatible with the 86 and newer units (you can convert the connector and wiring to use later boxes if you want, but the placement will remain under the rear seat), the wheels, front hubs, rear bearing/hub and axle are all pre 88 style, to go along with the brakes. If you convert the brakes you need to swap that list, plus either move the emergency brake or do without. (I had to think about the brakes and calipers, maybe you could bolt onto the old style hubs? Nope, the rotor centers and attachment to the hubs won't let that happen - upside to the brake conversion is that besides opening your availablity to calipers to 93 c900 you can also use the rear caliper from 1990 to end of production 9000 and if you want can convert to 9000 front caliper/rotor/pads for 1) a bit better stopping and 2) more sources to keep your brakes working)
the turbo is oil cooled only as all were until 1988, but you can upgrade and add the water lines to make them the same, you could swap in a T3 with oil/water OR you can put the TE05-12B in that came in later years.
LH2.2 run until 1988 so parts are available there.
Oh, no Airbag or ABS either.
but hey, I have a 1985 four door turbo too...
