Cruise control switch swapout 88-92

I have a 1992 900 with a broken cruise switch. The junkyard FINALLY had a c900 after 8 months of searching, but it's a 1988 with the old style switch. My Bentley manual says how to convert a new style switch to an older car, but not the other way around.
Is there any splicing or anything else that I should know besides changing the connectors?
Thank you
BrettH
