Replaced cooling fan, EZ - baseline temps, stats, etc Posted by EverettDave [Email] (#1894) [Profile/Gallery] (more from EverettDave) on Wed, 3 Nov 2010 09:04:02 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Installed new ( used) cooling fan in '89 SPG on Voting Day, went pretty smooth. Unbolt and swing aside coil, remove intercooler pipes, and plenty of room to get at fan screws and wire connector. Done in 2 hours incl warmup and test. Blows like crazy !
OK, adding to the running temps and thermostats discussion.....My '89 has run at 1/3rd up gage since I got it, then rising to midpoint in heavy traffic, hot days, or A/C use. Never above middle of gage ! Testing this new fan yesterday, I find that the cooling fan activates when gage reaches middle, blows 30 or 40 seconds til below midpoint, the cuts off.
I am aware that there are two thermostat ratings, isn't it 82 and 89?
If my running temp is 1/3rd up gage, is this confirmation that I have the lower thermostat? I ask since others claim their gages stay at midpoint.
