The AMM had a substantial covering of some sort of black inside - not sure if it was oil or just soot. I partially cleaned it with the stuff you use for electrical connections, but it could use another more thorough going-over.
The spark plugs are also oil-coated, as is the distributor's rotor. The person who swung by this afternoon to help me suspects the magnets in the distributor are also covered with oil.
That person also pointed out that the engine likely needs to be rebuilt, thinking that the valve covers are probably leaking, along with other likely problems. I guess it's got about 300K miles on it. The car's been through a number of owners so I don't know its history.
