fog lights grounding out somewhere...help Posted by inca99 [Email] (#1862) [Profile/Gallery] (more from inca99) on Mon, 19 Jan 2015 08:23:44 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Hoping someone can help me narrow the search for my mystery grounding-out location.
My fogs stopped working, I noticed fuse (#21) was blowing. So I removed the bumper and made sure nothing was pinched, and checked the 2 big gray connectors. The wire casings at the connectors were pretty tattered, so I disconnected them and tried to repair best as I could, but the farther back you take them into the harness, the more the wire insulation crumbles! I tried to do "just enough" without going too far. Still shorting out. Next I checked and cleaned the frame ground point near the lower radiator, leaving the fog lights disconnected - still shorting out! The dash switch looks good - no frayed wires or anything unusual. Any thoughts on where to go next with this would be a huge help. I guess I could run new wiring to the fogs, but I'd rather figure out where the grounding is happening.
THanks,
Scott
