In reading and re reading posts on the board about the troublesome light on the dash that would come on, parking brake, dimming and illuminating, general ABS wackiness......all the tricks were tried of swapping this and that, that and this without any real improvement.
Time for the experts when the hayseeds can't get it solved so George's Imports finds that there is a transistor on the back of the instrument dash that is in the circuit of the bulb. Apparently it failed, and after it was replaced is now back to normal.
Had we not gone to the moon, the transistor wouldn't have been part of our lives as you would have never ever launched a payload into orbit with vaccum tubes running the show. Imagine that.... a trunk full of vacuum tubes and an onboard APU ( aux power unit ) to run the electrical needs of the equipment -- doubtful that a belt generator would have been enough to power the amplifiers.
OK, better living though transisitors.......
