I also have a 1990 convertible I have the same problem. Are you talking about the bolt that holds the seat belt anchor to the frame of the car. if you can take one of the seats out you'll be able to get that plastic center console piece all the way out so you can get to the bolts a lot easier. If not just push up on both of the seats so you can squeeze the plastic piece out it's a pretty tight squeeze to get that plastic piece out with the seats in but it can be done. Take them both. It is true that there are the anchor points that will work with the receiver but these are the only ones that will anchor to the frame. I do believe the three door hatchbacks will also work from the 1990 as long as the anchor points are to the frame of the car and not the frame of the seat. There should be 5 screws that hold that plastic piece down two in the front two in the back one in the center.
