I can only speak from past experience (have not had my 900 for 6 years, but getting it back next weekend).
I went from stock suspension to intrax lowering springs with tokico shocks and full poly bushings. This combination was a dramatic improvement and still road well. Yes, it was a little stiffer but lost that pogo stick feel. I chose the intrax over the B&G because they had lower spring rates. I also chose the tokico shocks because of past excellent experience with them. They were the ideal compromise between feelings sporty & controlled but never harsh. The end results was a fantastic combo of a very nice riding car that handeled superb. My poly bushings I got from SAS and I was surprised that they are not all that stiff. They are nothing like derlin bushings.
You can still get a full set of poly bushings from SAS..I also got them for the spring purches. If I had to do it over again, I would not change anything... I can’t say the same on my Audi Avant.
Unfortunately Tokico is out of business, so that option is not available. They were an excellent match for the intrax. Other shocks may be stiffer and overpower the soft springs. The owner of Atomic Auto (was a saab specialty shop) said he preferred his suspension setup. I think he had B&G springs with Billstiens. I never road in his car but he basically said it handled better but had a stiffer ride.
Koni shocks are probably a good option if you get the adjustable ones. You would likely be able to tailor them to your liking and pair them well with any lowering springs. I would definitely give the poly bushings the big thumbs up.
Keep in mind that everything is relative. My same suspension would probably be considered jarring if it were on a 2018 GTI...the level on refinement in today cars far outstrips that of the C900, however driving one of those in comparison is far less involving. Even my 996 911’s steering feel, I would describe as inferior to road feel the Saab provides.
