Definitely a lot of secondary jobs when you go after that FMS... and IMHO I would include the hoses to and from the rack. It's about $60 worth of hoses, and they're always in sad shape. :)
The seal itself is pretty straightforward. Elring for sure, and I think Corteco as well, are fully-coated and a bit easier to install. Elring is OE IIRC. SKF and Timken are not fully coated and a bit more difficult to install. But, you have the oil pump housing in your hand, so neither are *that* tough.
I wouldn't personally plan on replacing the pulley - check it out once it's in your hand. The factory pulley is probably a higher quality than anything you can buy today.
I thought '89s should still be a Hall-Effect sensor in the distributor... the CPS didn't show up until '91.
The job is not awful, but not fun. Although I recently learned it's quite easy if there is no cylinder head on the engine. :) You can even do the steering rack from the top at that point!
