Idle issues

Howdy all,
I powerwashed the engine of my 1990 900T the other day in hopes of tracking down an oil leak on front end. Following that, the car was fine for a day.
The next day, once it warmed up a bit, it would idle at 2000 and after about 5 seconds, come down to about 1700 then go back up and repeat.
I first assumed a vacuum leak so checked all my hoses and boots but nothing.
Not sure if this tests anything but unplugging the AIC did nothing. Unplugging the air mass meter seriously cut the idle. Pretty much to bogging.
Fortunately, I had 3 air mass meters on the shelf. Unfortunately, I knew one was bad and didn't know the state of the other 2.
upon swapping them, one bogs really badly. One produces the same results as above. The other has similar results but only idles up to about 1500.
I ordered a couple of cheap air mass meters from China which won't be here for a while(always wanted to give them a shot anyway).
Any thoughts of what could be causing this?
Thanks!
Tushy
