My quick observation: NA 900's use a whole different ignition system (EZK) from turbo 900's. EZK has it's own control unit. The crankshaft rotates at twice the speed of the camshaft/distributor so your EZK ignition would be firing the spark plugs every fourth crank rev. instead of every other rev. and I don't think it would ever start like that.
