Hello all,
Hoping to consult the brain trust on some unusual electrical occurrences I have been having, intermittent of course. Vehicle in question is an 86 Turbo Convertible.
Not sure if any/all of these are related or not, but here goes:
-Shift light seems to work seasonally, it never works in the summer but will illuminate in the colder temps until the car has been driven for 30-45mins and is warm.
-Occasionally when depressing the brake it will make the radio (an aftermarket Kenwood unit) turn off and back on, the antenna will begin to retract and go back up
-Occasionally turning on the fan or AC will make the tach spike when there is no change in engine speed
-Very rarely the car will have what feels to be a single misfire. I can go several weeks/months with nothing, but then it could happen three or four times in ten minutes and go away again.
-I get a minor jump in the fuel/engine temp needles with the right blinker.
Here is what I have done so far:
-Cleaned the under-hood ground by the battery
-Cleaned the ground on the engine block (it indicated in the Bentley manual that this is for the LH unit)
-Cleaned the positive battery distribution block by the PS reservoir
-Cleaned the distributor cap, made sure all the connections were tight on the Bougicords and to the ignition coil
-Plugs have less than 10k miles on them
My initial thought was that this might be related to the ground point that's behind the dash? If so, where exactly is it located and what's the best method in getting to it?
Thanks,
Nick
