Thanks Bernie,
I checked the manufacture date this morning. It came off the line (11/92), so obviously not one of the last 900’s produced. Still, unfortunate that there isn’t a breakdown of sedans & hatchbacks, and manuals vs auto like there is turbos and convertibles.
That said, I’m sure the data is somewhere, just not easily accessible to most of us.
Thank you both for responding to my query. Nice to chat with some fellow Saab enthusiasts.
I bought a 1993 because I had a 1988 and loved it. When I heard they were discounting the body style with the 1993 model year, that moved me to grab one.
I had done the same years before when I bought a VW Jetta GLI with the old “boxy” body in it’s last year. Four years after I bought it, I was in a department store and overheard a customer telling a worker that he had just bought a GLI used (the same car as mine). The price he paid was 75% of what I had paid for it new 4 yers earlier.
I am not a collector, though I still have a 1999 Suburban LT on the road, but I do pay attention when a manufacturer announces the last of a breed.
Been holding on to my 900S (124,666) for years, maintaining it, and driving it a few miles a month thinking it may gain some value someday. I take it to local car shows once in a while, and it’s the only Saab there. I always get a lot of teenagers admiring it. They love the front hood as I usually have it open at the shows. I was going to give it to my son but he’s not fond of manual transmissions.
I’m constantly going back and forth on whether to sell it. In another 100 years maybe they’ll be going for a million, but alas, I will not be here :)
Thanks again for your input!
