Yeah I just bought a convertible and the o-ring was leaking . The o-ring is what keeps the plastic part from leaking and you could not see it leaking. I had to take the pump out put it on the workbench before I could find the actual leak. Taking the whole entire system out it only takes about an hour. Then you'll definitely know if it's one of the Pistons. I don't see how anything from the engine compartment could make its way back there that's a little far. Good luck and taking out the whole hydraulic system for a convertible is not that difficult.
