Looks like I fixed it and thought I'd let you know:
Bought a new fuel pump, pressure and return valve and after switching I saw that my predecessor changed the pump in 2009 so maybe it wasn't that bad. What WAS bad was the pressure check valve which basically had degraded to be a giant resistance. I kept the new pump in though in case the old had suffered too much. And voila! After sitting for 2 weeks, in 8°C and almost empty tank she started instantly! Here's hoping that this will not change too fast.
