What Saabaru was trying to say is that in addition to removing deposits, flushing will also remove oil. Now in some places, that's not a big problem. But on exposed parts that require lubrication (cam and lifter surfaces for example), removing the oil coating can cause them to be destroyed when you start the engine. Also, removing the oil coating from exposed steel/iron surfaces will cause them to start rusting amazingly fast.

One technique I've used to avoid these issues is to clean with a mixture of about 75% kersosene/mineral spirits/diesel fuel and 25% motor oil (use the cheapest oil you can find since you're just going to throw it away).

But even then, before reassembling and starting the motor, make SURE all oiled components are covered with a liberal amount of 100% motor oil.
