I bought a new clutch master cylinder last week but then after pressure bleeding the system I thought it was ok. I sent the master back to eeuroparts and bought new brake rotors and pads instead.

I was wrong. Today while on the way to duluth (wife and I felt like seeing Lake Superior - its an old habit) the clutch master cylinder died. Soon after stopping for gas I tried to shift up but was completely unable. I could generate pressure under the clutch pedal - but only after pumping that pedal - then if I held the clutch in the pedal pressure would dissipate down to a dead pedal. I bled the system on the spot with my homemade garden-sprayer-pressure-bleeder (on the side of a gravel road) but the system behavior was unchanged. I replaced the slave last summer with a new OEM part and rebuilt the master - my assumption is that the master was the one to fail completely today. Would anyone care to corroborate this diagnosis? It was raining so I couldn't look for fluid leaking from the slave cylinder.

Right now the car is sitting in a motel parking lot 90 miles away... I hope they don't notice it.
