I'd say it's no worse than average, but probably not better than average, either. Mobile DVD players are a bit of an enigma from a reliability/service standpoint, because so few are sold, that it's hard to get any idea of how they hold up or don't.

I'd say for the kind of use I am giving mine (which is almost no actual DVD playing), my Clarion will last forever! If you have it as your main CD player in the car however, I'd not expect any of them to last significantly longer than a quality CD head unit before needing optic replacement. Depending on your climate, use, abuse, that could be just a couple years to maybe five or six years, maybe 10 if you never use the thing. :)

As for overall quality of Pioneer head units, they seem as well built as anything else we sell.
