just am going through it in my 87. my left rear accuator quit with the door unlocked and the right one was dead when i bought it. the left was easy and only had to switch the accuator and replace the front (by the lock knob plastic swivel, it quit when unlocked, lucky me. the right was more of a problem because it quit locked. between folding seats up and down i was able to get to all the screws and lift the panel off. again the front swivel plastic was broke and that fixed the button. the door is supposed to open with the inside door handle, locked or not, unless the little child proof switch is set, only accessable with door open. all working now. i was considering a large sheet metal bolt (tapered on the end) of the right size to replace plastic swivel part but was lucky enough to have a a wrecked car in my junk yard. the car is now on its way to being a toyota (crushed and recycled) but got a few extra parts out of it. good luck!
