Does it come on while driving? Posted by turrbo [Email] (#8) [Profile/Gallery] (more from turrbo) on Tue, 9 Nov 2004 22:00:54 In Reply to: ABS Light is on! HELP. Or is it on at startup? If it comes on at startup, something is causing the system to fail the resistance self-test. If ti comes on while driving, one of the wheel sensors is most likely giving the computer an erroneous reading. Thats the quick lesson on the ABS light.
When the light is on, the system is totally deactivated for safety reasons. The only way to tell for sure what is wrong is to have the code pulled by a dealer or indy with Tech 2. I can tell you that a sensor will run you somewhere in the are of $300 or so for the part, plus labor. Most likely its a sensor malfunction, thats what its always been for me. But it could be as simple as a loose connector.
