Check so that you have power to sensor on red wire (pin 3) and ground on black wire (pin 1). On the green/red wire (pin 2) should be a pulsing voltage between 0 and 5 when engine is rotating.
You might be able to measure that pulse using Hz on the VOM tester.
I use my lab scope to check CKP sensor.
picture below is a 91 9000 that had a split second hick up due to that the CKP sensor was loose and rubbing against the crank pulley.
