I installed in order...
1. Cat back 2.5" exhaust from Abbott, ITG air filter, wastegate, dump valve.
With these mods I increased the boost to 1.0 bar. The performace increase was quite noticeable.
2. Added an Abbott ECU. This further improved the performance, a little....but not as I expected and the gas milage decreased substantially.
I think if you approached the mods in steps you can get some good performance gains without the gas milage hit. Most people on this board would probably suggest:
1. 3" turbo back exhaust.
2. Low restriction air filter.
3. dump valve
4. Make sure you have good spark plugs...NGK only.
5. Then I would go with a high volume I.C.
If that does not do it for you then the next step for me would be a turbo upgrade to a T28.
If that does not do it then go the final step to an ECU.
This may be the opposite from what some would suggest. Many would go with the ECU first. But to get that to work well, you need at least exhaust and airfilter.
The sequense I suggest allows you to increase the performance without losing MPG and possibly improveing it.
You will never be able to launch any kind of Saab from a start without LSD. If you want to drag race buy a different car.
Regarding the viggen torque steer...that can be taken care of via a steering rack brace.
