Hi Guys, I just got back to the house after buying my 4th Saab, a 1996 9000 CSE 2.3 LPT. Scarabe Green with cream leather + walnut Mmmm...

I bought it cheap as it needs work.

The CEL light is on and flashes four times. I searched posts and this indicates a faulty temperature input to the ECU (fault somewhere between temp sensor and ECU. This makes sense as the temp gauge would work for a while (although seemed particularly low - level with the top of the letter L on gauge)and then show nothing, as if the car was ice cold.

I have my old 1995 CSE 2.3 FPT as a parts car, so could swap the sensor, however my question is this: I noticed that the car would hesitate on the overun, ie when I took my foot off the gas. It idles fine, accelerates well, cruises fine, but does hesitate when off the gas, faltering and bucking. Is this fault connected in any way with the temperature or is it a whole different problem?

This is the car's first trip after the fuel pump was replaced.

(Apologies for rambling message, but wrote it that way to make it easy to find for others with same fault).
