The three different 2.3 turbo engine specs - B234E, B234L and B234R - have different ECU part numbers. In other words, a manual Aero ECU is not the same as a manual CSE ECU - but a manual CSE, an automatic CSE and an automatic Aero share an ECU. In relevant years, there is a further ECU for TCS cars.
What I don't know is how an manual Aero ECU would perform in an automatic car if the wire to pin 14 has not been cut. Maybe the "reduced torque" function isn't implemented in this ECU, but instinctively I'd reckon it would be, as a matter of standardisation. Maybe someone knows for certain?
So as I guess was in your mind, cutting the wire on a CSE ECU wouldn't necessarily release Chadwick's promised 225 bhp – you would need an Aero ECU plus TD04 for that, surely.
One quickie on Joe98's post - I don't believe removing fuse 9 affects brake boost, at least it doesn't seem to on my car.
