Rebuilding hoses Posted by Bill Homer [Email] (#3427) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Bill Homer) on Sun, 23 Nov 2008 19:44:04 In Reply to: Re: source of oil burning & smoke rising........, buckmath, Sun, 23 Nov 2008 15:49:33 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
If I recall correctly, there is only one (perhaps two) hose coupling that uses a normal hose clamp: the low-pressure hose to the bottom of the reservoir. If that is where the leak is, it's simple to tighten it up (don't overtighten it or risk cracking the plastic tank!).
If you discover that you need a new hose (offhand I would say that you might), you can have the hoses rebuilt by a hydraulic shop for much less than the cost of new hoses from SAAB - look up "hydraulic hoses" or similar in the yellow pages. You bring in the old hose with the end fittings and they replace the rubber hose part; the shop that did mine claimed that their hose is better than the OEM stuff, gave me new small O-rings for the ends - no more leaks. The hoses are a pain to get out however.
