Head Gasket replaced - Turbo overheating

Hello, I just spent the last week replacing the head gasket on my '86 Saab 9000 Turbo - it went quite smooth, had the head resurfaced as well. Put it all back together and it drove fine 17 miles to my work. The next day I drove it about 10 miles and started noticing blue smoke .. On the drive 10 miles back toward the end I knew something was wrong as it was barely able to get down the street - Parked at work and popped the hood to find the Turbo was GLOWING RED - upon inspection the next day found indead it had completely shattered inside - breaking the bolt on the intake side and shattering the exhaust side.
I happened to have a spare turbo and just got it replaced - drove it the 17miles back home and NEVER got on it - just babied it there. It seemed to drive ok, but I could tell the power isn't quite there. Upon looking under the hood, again the turbo was GLOWING RED. - It doesn't appear to be broken YET, but any ideas on what could be causing this?
A friend thinks possibly it is 1 tooth off on the timing chain, to far advanced, would that be possible even though the timing was VERY close and only bumped a little to be dead zero after the head job?
Any other ideas? .. I can't afford much more time or any more money on this car, and am afraid it might be the end of it. Any help would be appreciated.
