The head unit is the same from 1995 - 1998, and I believe it is a Clarion one, but do not confuse it with the 1992 - 1994 Clarion unit, they are very different.

I have one and it does not have Harmon Kardon marked on it anywhere. It was used in CS, CSE, and Areo models.

The 1995 - 1998 CD player is plug an play with the 1995 - 1998 Head Unit. I think all that is needed is the wiring connector to go between the radio head unit and the CD player to give power to the CD unit and the input channels. From 1995 on the car should already have the cable installed that would allow for a rear mounted CD changer.

The only difference between the Harmon Kardon Prestige system and the stock Saab system is the Speakers and Amplifier under the front passenger seat - They both used the same Head unit and CD player.

The stock system has eight speakers. Four in the front and four in the rear. The rear speakers and amp are made by Nokia, front speakers are from Germany.

The Harmon Kardon system has a total of 10 speakers, 4 in the front and 6 in the Rear, all made by Harmon Kardon, and the amp to drive all 10 speakers.
