How is the rest of the car? Be sure and check the shock towers. They crept up on me. I had NO idea as that rust area is all covered by the rear carpet. I had my car repaired by a guy out in the country far from ridiculous urban repair prices. I generally fix my '95 9K CS as it is still a modern high speed touring car and loads of fun to drive. At 85 MPH she's just settling down and getting comfy. "Want to go faster?", she says. "OK, let's go."
Wearing modern Swedish tires she will go as fast as I want in complete comfort and safety. It might cost me just as much to own a new SAAB, but then I would be locked into a high payment and insurance schedule. I keep repairing mine.
At some point this will become impossible. And stuff DOES wear out. Bushings and gaskets deteriorate. Insulation on wiring and connections starts to fail. Eventually I will have to replace my lovie, but not yet. Haven't even reached 200,000 yet
