I found on my '97 that a failed O2 sensor initiated all manner of bogus codes, including "slow O2 sensor" as well as "camshaft position sensor" which is a part that does not even exist on these cars. This continued when I made the mistake of installing a "brand X" replacment, and finally cleared up when a proper Bosch sensor was installed.
Group 41 batteries do seem to be the most commonly-available size that will fit the 9000, that's what I've been using. If having alternator trouble I found out the hard way to carefully check the small green wire. (On mine it looked good at first glance but it had in fact corroded internally at the connector.)
