Things are not looking good. Time to say goodbye...

So I get a new CPS for my '96 9K and while removing some bits to make access better I pull off the big air output tube from the turbo. And there is oil there. I check the shaft and there is some lateral play. Not good at all. It will last a while longer, but the writing is in the wall.
Plus there is, as noted a few weeks back, oil in the coolant. Not a mocha milkshake, but enough to worry about (some of it prob comes from the turbo). Then there's the persistent but growing leak at the tranny end of the head and lower than ideal compression. Too many things at once, not enough time to deal with them and my budget has other demands on it. I think it is time to say goodbye.
So I stopped the CPS replacement. I can't get it off anyway--the bolt seems to be buggered. Vacation is looming, I have no time, can't see spending money on this car at 22 years and 237.8K miles. The tinworm issues are not as bad as I thought, so I could keep the beast, but I'm out of gas in terms of spending money on it.
So I'll get my out-of-the-country daughter's '99 9-3 running again and move to that (yuck!). Am looking into the donation thing for the 9K once I pull some of the good stuff off. But it will go to where ever with the Sachs Sport Chassis and the SAS bars. Too much work to remove.
I have a load of parts that I'll put in the classifieds once I sort them.
